All of the files in this data set are provided in FITS format, with
detached PDS labels.  Several documents included with this data set
provide information about the FITS file format.

(1) General file format information

The document "A User's Guide for the Flexible Image Transport System
(FITS)" provides a general description of the FITS file format.  It is
found on this volume in three formats: ASCII (FITSINFO.ASC), Latex
(FITSINFO.TEX) and Postscript (FITSINFO.PS).  See FITSINFO.LBL for
more information.

(2) HST/WFPC2 keywords

Headers in the FITS files consist of keyword/value pairs, which
describe the associated data.  Much of this same information can be
found in the detached PDS labels associated with the files.

A few keywords are standard across all FITS data files; these are
discussed in the aforementioned document "A User's Guide for the
Flexible Image Transport System (FITS)".

Many additional keywords have been defined by the Space Telescope
Science Institute (STScI) and are specific to HST/WFPC2 data.  The
file FITSDEFS.TXT provides a (very) brief description of every FITS
keyword appearing in any data file on this volume.  The file
FITSXREF.TXT provides a cross-reference table indicating which
keywords can be found in which data file types.

found in Table 25.2 of the HST Data Handbook.  Relevant sections of
this document are included on this volume in two formats: Adobe
