NOTES ON USING THE IMAGE INDEX TABLES AND SOURCE F-BIDR TABLES

The index table (INDEX.TAB) contains one row (record) for each image file
stored on this FMAP Volume. The cumulative index table (CUMINDEX.TAB)
contains one row (record) for each image file stored on this FMAP Volume
plus all previously created FMAP Volumes.

The source F-BIDR tables (nnzmmmOR.TAB, where nn is the center latitude
of the tile rounded down to the nearest whole integer, z is N or S
(North or South latitude), and mmm is the center longitude of the tile
rounded down to the nearest whole integer) each correspond to a resampled
version of an FMAP image tile and the value at each location in the table
is equal to the revolution number of the F-BIDR used in the tile at that
location. F-BIDR information is available for every 128th line and
sample of the image tile starting at the first line and sample in the
tile. Each FMAP image tile was produced using the most current version
of the F-BIDRs available at the time of processing. The rows in the
table represent lines in the tile and the columns represent samples.

The index tables are formatted so that they may be read directly into
many data management systems on various host computers. All fields
(columns) are separated by commas, and character fields are enclosed in
quotes. Each record consists of 250 bytes, with a carriage return/line
feed sequence in bytes 249 and 250. This allows the table to be treated
as a fixed length record file on hosts which support this file type and
as a normal text file on other hosts.

The F-BIDR tables are formatted so that they may be read directly into
many data management systems on various host computers. All fields
(columns) are separated by commas. The record lengths between tables
vary because the tile sizes are not all the same. Each record contains
a carriage return/line feed sequence in the last two bytes of the record.
These tables can be treated as fixed length record files on hosts that
support this file type and as normal text files on other hosts.

A formal description of the index table structures is provided in the
INDEX.LBL and CUMINDEX.LBL files. A formal description of the F-BIDR
table structures is provided in the nnzmmmOR.LBL files. These files
are coded in the Object Description Language (ODL).
