INDEX Directory Contents

     The INDEX directory contains tabular index files, accompanied by
detached PDS labels, for the data products on this volume.

     The following index tables list the product ID, instrument, DVD-ROM
volume ID, directory path and file name, and the starting time of data
acquisition for each product in this DVD-ROM volume set.  Each data set
has one index table and one detached PDS label.

     The following cumulative index tables and their PDS labels have
been copied from the original archive volumes without alteration.
Cumulative index tables list all products from all published volumes of
a data set. These tables contain references to directories and file
names on the original archive volumes.

Notes on Using the Index Tables

     An index table contains one row (record) for each data product it
describes. The table is formatted so that it can be read directly into
many data management systems.  All fields are separated by commas, and
character fields are enclosed in double quotation marks (").  Character
fields are left justified, and numeric fields are right justified.  Each
record ends with ASCII carriage return and line feed characters.  This
allows the table to be treated as a fixed length record file on
computers that support this file type and as a normal text file on other
computers.

     The file with extension ".LBL" and the same name as an index table
is a PDS label file that describes the content and structure of the
fields in the index table. This description includes the name of each
field, its format, and a brief definition.  The values for start byte
and number of bytes listed in the label file do not include commas
between fields or quotation marks surrounding character fields.
