Open Loop Data ============== Data Collection --------------- Approximately one hour of open-loop data was acquired at DSS 65 yesterday at the time of the TCM-4 maneuver. MGS was on the LGA at the time. Details are summarized in the table below. Anomalies --------- There were two missing records in the ODS. Analyses -------- The TCM-4 maneuver took place at 16:30 ERT. The carrier frequency estimates (before steering to correct for spacecraft trajectory and earth motion) show a 5 Hz drop in received frequency over approximately 12 seconds beginning at 16:30. This corresponds to a line-of-sight velocity change of 0.18 m/sec. The drop in frequency means that the line-of-sight velocity of the spacecraft increased in the direction away from Earth. It is my understanding that the total delta-v for the TCM was 0.3 m/sec. I also steered the data using the spk_c_970525-970913 SP-kernel file. This file was created on August 14. The baseline carrier frequency before and after the TCM appear to differ by approximately 37 mHz (average carrier frequency after the TCM is 37 mHz less than before the TCM). I suppose that this could mean that the actual trajectory correction differed from the nominal TCM encoded in the SP-kernel; the difference from the nominal line-of-sight velocity change is about 1.3 mm/sec.
