INFORMATION: The MGS Project terminated the spacecraft emergency at 2143Z on doy 133. The spacecraft is still in the safe mode, but the health and safety of the spacecraft is nominal. The Spacecraft team has reconstructed the fault condition in the spacecraft simulator and they are currently working on a software patch to correct the anomaly. The current plan is to start the recovery to the nominal spacecraft configuration on the 19th of May (doy 139). All DSS's will be without SOE's and telemetry predicts until after doy 135 at 1400Z. The MGS ACE will provide a pre-pass briefing to the station prior to track until an SOE is available. The spacecraft is currently transmitting on the AUX OSC (Ch 16) with a telemetry data rate of 10bps coded. Channel 16 predicts are available and are being transmitted to the station pre-pass. The telemetry subcarrier is low and the modulation index is 42.3 degrees. The spacecraft is operating with the TWNC on and the station should flag all data as 1-way. The command data rate and subcarrier are as follows: Date DOY SubCar(kHz) BPS 5/12/97 132 16.000784 7.812883 5/13/97 133 16.000786 7.812884 5/14/97 134 16.000789 7.812885 5/15/97 135 16.000791 7.812886 5/16/97 136 16.000793 7.812887 5/17/97 137 16.000795 7.812888 5/18/97 138 16.000797 7.812889 5/19/97 139 16.000798 7.812890 5/20/97 140 16.000800 7.812891 5/21/97 141 16.000802 7.812892 5/22/97 142 16.000804 7.812892 5/23/97 143 16.000805 7.812893 5/24/97 144 16.000807 7.812894 5/25/97 145 16.000807 7.812895 5/26/97 146 16.000810 7.812896 5/27/97 147 16.000812 7.812896 5/28/97 148 16.000813 7.812897 5/29/97 149 16.000814 7.812898 5/30/97 150 16.000816 7.812898 This configuration information is subject to change in realtime at the MGS ACE's direction. The DSN has provided excellent support during this spacecraft event. The Project has passed on their thanks for the exceptional support that has been provided. Your continued help is solicited as the Project continues to restore the spacecraft to it's nominal configuration. Any questions, comments, or concerns should be forwarded to our office. Your attention to detail and continued support of the MGS project is greatly appreciated. MPSETC points of contact: D. RECCE, (818) 584-4462 Pager (818) 541-2666 M. KENNEDY, 584-4415 A.
