Simpson Stanford University ============================================================================== INTRODUCTION ============================================================================== This file contains an accumulation of corrections and notes for the Mars Global Surveyor Radio Science Team Raw Data Archive - Extended Mission Phase. ============================================================================== CORRECTIONS AND NOTES ============================================================================== MORS_0601 An error in predicting occultation times led to situations in which and spacecraft telemetry modulation was turned on before the ingress MORS_0602 occultation took place (a reconfiguration that usually takes place while the spacecraft is in deep occultation). In other cases not only was the telemetry state changed, but the power amplifier was turned off. Occultations for which the controlling SOE was mm111b.04.tsoe (1035039D.SOE) should be used with caution. For occultation 8574i captured in 10371535.ODR the predicted occultation time was 41 s early; for occultation 8587i (10381705.ODR) the predicted time was 47 s early. For more detail see HEA/HEA1039A.TXT and its two figures on MORS_0602. The following table lists occultations and ODR files known to be corrupted. Note that occultations 8572i and 8573i did not seem to be affected. MORS_0607 ECH, MCH, and ODR data (and their derivatives ECT, MCT, and BRO) were delayed because it was impossible to query for several days. HEA files do not necessarily accompany ECH and MCH data. MORS_0605 Eleven occultations (ODR files) were lost on 2001/048 and 049 because of a subtle scripting error. Details are in HEA1057A.TXT in directory HEA of MORS_0604. MORS_0614 This volume was incorrectly labeled as including data through 2001-04-01. In fact, the last data in the ECH and MCH directories (typically our criterion for labeling) are only from 2001-03-31. MORS_0617 ODR/11040258.ODR was incomplete. The data were recovered and appear on MORS_0621 as ODR/1104025I.ODR. A new BRO file also appears on MORS_0621 under the name BRO/11040258I.PS1. MORS_0617 ECT and MCT for 2001-105 were accidently written to MORS_0617. and They should have appeared on MORS_0618. MORS_0618 MORS_0623 ODR/11320016.ODR has 13 records missing 10-15 seconds before ingress. The missing records were recovered later and a new file (ODR/1132001G.ODR) was written to MORS_0624. The new file has a duplicate record (#429) but it and its companion BRO/1132001G.PS1 should be substituted wherever these data are needed.
