Large parts of the DSN seem to be crashing around us. In the 48 hrs since 1999/098-00:00:00, 30 occultations have been scheduled; only 11 have yielded data records, and only 6 of those contain signal. Bill Sjogren reports very little useful tracking data from SPC 60. Details below. Attenuator settings should be increased 1 dB to reduce the chance of diffraction overshoot clipping. Anomalies --------- All DSS 65 occultations above yielded data records with nothing but DC (no signal, no noise). This appears to be a continuation of the problem noted in yesterday's report (HEA9098A.TXT) for 1999/097 at DSS 65. In addition to the above, the following appear to have been lost: YYYY/DDD DSS Start DSP Cause -------- --- --------- -------------------------------- 1999/098 65 02:27:00 SPA-R initialization failure 1999/098 65 03:42:00 Remote ops script not found 1999/098 25 06:22:00 DSP started but never stopped(?) 1999/098 25 07:37:00 Continuation of above ? 1999/098 25 08:20:00 Continuation of above ? 1999/098 25 09:35:00 Continuation of above ? 1999/098 25 10:18:00 Continuation of above ? 1999/098 25 11:32:00 Continuation of above ? 1999/098 25 12:15:00 Continuation of above ? 1999/098 25 13:30:00 Continuation of above ? 1999/099 15 05:12:00 Resumption of above ? 1999/099 15 05:55:00 Continuation of above ? 1999/099 15 07:09:00 Continuation of above ? 1999/099 15 07:52:00 Continuation of above ? 1999/099 15 09:07:00 Continuation of above ? 1999/099 15 09:50:00 Continuation of above ? 1999/099 15 11:05:00 Continuation of above ? 1999/099 15 11:48:00 Continuation of above ? 1999/099 15 13:03:00 Continuation of above ? Closed Loop Data ================ Data Collection --------------- We have obtained the following files from OSCAR and EPIC: Original File Name Name on SOPC -------------------------------- ------------ ODF: 99097O098_10S.SJO;1 9097098A.ODF 99098O098_10S.SJO;1 9098098A.ODF 99098O099_10S.SJO;1 9098099A.ODF Bill Sjogren reports continuing problems with tracking data acquired at SPC 60, in spite of an upgrade in hardware planned for early this week. On 1999/098 DSS 65 was to track MGS from 00:10 to 06:10; in fact, there were only 75 minutes of data and only about 6 minutes of "good" data. A plot of Doppler residuals will be appended to the hard copy version of this report. Ancillary Data ============== Data Collection --------------- We have obtained the following files from the FIS: Original File Name Name on SOPC -------------------------------- ------------ AMD: amdgen.99-098.out 9096097A.AMD OPT: optg_m_990408_OD0374-0376_0544_V1 9098112A.OPT OPT: optg_m_990914_000315_runout 9257075A.OPT SAK: mgs_solar_array_1999-097.ck 9097097A.SAK SCK: MGS_SCLKSCET.00024.tsc TSC00024.SCK SPK: spk_m_990408_OD0374-0376_0544_V1 9098112A.SPK SPK: spk_m_990914_000315_runout 9257075A.SPK TCK: mgs_spice_c_kernel_1999-097.ck 9097097A.TCK Two new "predict" files have been picked up from FIS. The SPK is 146 MB, the OPT 6.4 MB. These will likely be purged from our on-line holdings after a short stay so that space can be saved for reconstructed orbit files. They can be reloaded later from CD-WO if needed. The two files are spk_m_990914_000315_runout and optg_m_990914_000315_runout. Anomalies --------- The OPTG file announced in yesterday's report (HEA9098A.TXT) is a duplicate. We collected 12 copies of this file before Joe Twicken noticed the error. The problem is the same as was noted a couple days ago for the corresponding SPK file; the file name in the SFDU label is NOT the name under which the file is stored on the FIS. We have modified ISA Z50698. The offending file is optg_m_990317_OD107-120_281_V2, saved in our system as 9076091B.OPT through 9076091M.OPT.
