However, e-mail does not work yet, and patches needed for Y2K compliance may not have been installed. SA's are continuing to investigate. This will be our last report until after we have moved to our new building. Our server magellan.stanford.edu and the SOPC will probably stay up the latest today. Five occultations starting with 1999/170-15:30:00 have ragged baselines. Rather than simply being noisy, the carrier signal strength seems to take sudden drops of as much as 3 dB. The noise comes in bursts and has been evident for roughly the last 1-2 weeks on (mostly) SPC 60 tracks. The sixth occultation in this set has "oscillations" of +/-0.3 dB, rather than the dropouts in the first five. There are additional baseline dropouts in data beginning 1999/171- 17:27:00. The carrier baseline is "erratic" -- both positive and negative sharp changes in amplitude -- in data beginning 1999/172-18:57:00. Data beginning 1999/171-15:33:39 started late because the predicts directory was full. The egress occultation was missed. Data beginning 1999/172-11:10:38 started late because the SPC server was down; the egress occultation was missed. The five occultations starting 1999/172-11:10:28 were lost for science because the A/D converters were saturated. Strong surface echoes during ingress occultations have been rare in recent weeks. But the three ingress occultations starting 1999/173- 02:21:00 have very good ones. There is no sign of data degradation from the HGA rewind as of 1999/173-06:57:00.
