Trish Priest has since told us that the DSP was experiencing POCA problems during the recording, thus explaining the lack of signal. For the fourth consecutive day, the signal level was at least 10 dB low for the recordings at DSS 54. Trish Priest reported that a problem was discovered with an IF switch at the station, and that the problem was rectified in time for the last occultation in the pass. The level for this recording at 2000/026T19:36:00 was up 6 dB from the others. Trish indicated that she was conservative in setting the level for the final occultation, and that it should be close to normal today. Trish has indicated that there were POCA limit and circular buffer errors during the recording of occultation 3958i at 2000/026T11:09:00 at DSS 54. Our quicklook spectra also show unusual frequency fluctuations. This occultation may well be lost for science. The DSP at DSS 25 was red for the first four occultations of the pass beginning on 2000/026. These occultations (3963i-3965e) are lost. There was a very low signal level and no discernible occultation in any of the three recordings at SPC 40 (2000/027T07:22:00 through 09:22:00). In addition, it was expected that all three occultations were to be recorded with DSS 34, but in fact the last two were recorded with DSS 45. The three occultations (3969e-3970e) appear to be lost to science. Trish is investigating.
