The ingress was captured at DSS 25 when Trish Priest was able to set up the DSP quickly and get a couple minutes of data just before the end of the pass. The following occultation (4151i starting 2000/042T05:34:00) was also lost at DSS 45, though noise data were collected. This loss has been attributed more specifically to predicts problems. Three occultations at DSS 15 (4171i, 4172i, and 4173i; the first starting at 2000/043T20:47:00) were lost to operations errors. Data starting 2000/044T18:21:00 (4182i at DSS 65) and 2000/045T13:57:00 (4192i at DSS 65) have not been found. Data from 4174i at DSS 15 (2000/044T02:40:00) were collected using DSN predicts. The following APPEAR to have been collected using DSN predicts, but this has not been confirmed: Occultation Start Data/Time DSN ----------- ------------------- --- 4152i 2000-02-11T07:32:00 45 4153i 2000-02-11T09:30:00 45 4163i 2000-02-12T05:06:00 45 4164i 2000-02-12T07:04:00 45 4165i 2000-02-12T09:01:00 45 4187i 2000-02-14T04:09:00 43 4188 2000-02-14T05:00:00 43 4188i 2000-02-14T06:07:00 43 4189i 2000-02-14T08:04:00 43 Data from DSS 43 starting 2000/045T05:00:00 are one-way with telemetry on. They may be useful in determining USO stability; there is no occultation. There are 2-3 changes in attenuation in the first 2-3 minutes. Because of the apparent use of DSN predicts, the signal wanders over about 100 Hz in frequency and the carrier amplitude oscillates by about +/-0.3 dB. Data collected using DSS 25 suffer from dropouts as large as 2 dB. This intermittent problem has been with us for several months, though not in the past few weeks. All of the DSS 25 occultations in the list above suffer from this anomaly to some extent. Occultation 4158i was captured at both DSS 54 and DSS 15 (starting date/time 2000/042T19:18:00). There are some huge (especially for present Earth-Mars distances) surface echoes in the DSS 43 occultation data.
