Open Loop Data ============== Data Collection --------------- We have transferred the following open loop data to Stanford: YYYY/DDD DSS DSP SAMP BW DSP BIT REC RECS RECS MAX START STOP RATE MODE RESN LEN MSSG SNR -------- --- -------- -------- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----- ---- ----- 2000/135 63 13:47:20 13:56:31 50K 20K 3 8 4166 13796 0 19.8 2000/136 25 20:15:00 20:22:00 5000 2000 2 12 1666 2101 0 47.7 2000/136 25 22:13:00 22:20:00 5000 2000 2 12 1666 2101 0 47.0 2000/137 25 00:11:00 00:18:00 5000 2000 2 12 1666 2101 0 47.2 2000/137 25 02:08:00 02:15:00 5000 2000 2 12 1666 2101 0 46.6 2000/137 65 11:56:00 12:04:00 5000 2000 2 12 1666 2401 0 46.8 2000/137 65 15:52:00 15:59:00 5000 2000 2 12 1666 2101 0 46.7 Data starting 2000/135T13:47:20 is a partial transmission from the bistatic radar experiment (surface scattering). This segment spans the MPL/DS2 landing area. The remaining data (about 3 hours total) is on tape and will be shipped to JPL later. See Figure HEA0137A.PS1 and its caption (below) for more details. Anomalies --------- Data from occultation 5318i (DSS 65, start time 2000/137T13:54:00) were lost to a SPA-R initialization failure. Closed Loop Data ================ Data Collection --------------- We have obtained the following files from OSCAR and EPIC: Original File Name Name on SOPC -------------------------------- ------------ ODF: 00133O126_10S.SJO;1 0133136A.ODF ODF: 00136O137_10S.SJO;1 0136137A.ODF Ancillary Data ============== Data Collection --------------- We have obtained the following files from the FIS: Original File Name Name on SOPC -------------------------------- ------------ AMD: amdgen.00-136.out 0134135A.AMD AMD: amdgen.00-137.out 0136136A.AMD OPT: optg_m_000514_OD5298-5300_5555_V1 0135156A.OPT SAK: mgs_solar_array_2000-135.ck 0135135A.SAK SPK: spk_m_000514_OD5298-5300_5555_V1 0135156A.SPK TCK: mgs_spice_c_kernel_2000-135.ck 0135135A.TCK Figure Captions =============== HEA0137A.PS1: Panels show 60-second average power spectra from MGS bistatic radar experiment. Horizontal axis gives frequency in units of 10000 Hz (full scale, 25000 Hz). Vertical axis is in dB with plots spaced by 1 dB. Time increases by 60 seconds with each plot, bottom to top and starting with 13:47:50. Left panel shows right-circularly polarized (RCP) channel; echo is centered at 10 kHz in first plot, then drifts to lower frequency and may broaden. Direct signal from spacecraft is narrow spike near 21 kHz, radiated via a sidelobe of the high-gain antenna. Right panel shows left-circularly polarized (LCP) channel with little or no echo visible, but occasional glimpses of the direct signal. At these incidence angles on the surface (about 70 degrees) the RCP echo is expected to be the stronger. In both channels, ripple in the bandpass filter is comparable to the echo; it will be removed using a filter characterization based on receiver response with only noise as the input. Based on the predicted orbit, the MPL/DS2 target area (76.5S, 195W) would have been crossed during acquisition of data in the third spectrum. Figures ======= Plot(s) illustrate some of the points made in the text. Each plot is a PostScript file, created and printable on our SOPC. For report text file HEAydddC.TXT Figure N will be labeled HEAydddC.PSN and sent as the N+1st e-mail message of a set. We assume that you can strip off the e-mail headers and either display or print copies of the figures on a machine in your area. People who have indicated that they cannot handle these files by e-mail are not included in the e-mail distribution of figures.
