The DSS 25 data started 126 s late (15:36:06); cause for the delay is not known. Occultation 5431i (DSS 25, start time 2000/146T19:29:00) has a -1 db change in noise level about 75 s after ingress. Occultation 5432i (DSS 25, start time 2000/146T21:27:00) has 0.3 dB dropouts in carrier level prior to ingress. In the approximately two minutes before ingress, the carrier frequency becomes unstable (+/-50 Hz). Cause of the problem is not known. Data from occultation 5433i (DSS 25, start time 2000/146T23:24:00) end suddenly at 23:25:57 two to three minutes before expected ingress. We have submitted queries for the remaining data, but without success. Cause of the problem is not known. Data from occultation 5434i (DSS 25, start time 2000/147T01:22:00) have unstable carrier frequency (+/-50 Hz). Although the frequency range is similar to what would be expected from DSN predicts, there is an initial frequency offset, and the distribution of energy over 60 s plots is unusual for DSN predicts. Data from occultations 5435i and 5436i (DSS 45, start times 2000/147T 03:20:00 and 05:17:00) appear to have been collected using DSN tuning predicts. The first egress measurements were at high northern latitudes. Since the MGS Mapping Phase began, ingress has generally been in the northern hemisphere and egress in the southern. Not all occultations have been captured; since early February 2000, egress observations have been possible only with special spacecraft maneuvers because of boom constraints. Notations along the inner bottom axis give Ls in degrees. Figures ======= Plot(s) illustrate some of the points made in the text. Each plot is a PostScript file, created and printable on our SOPC. For report text file HEAydddC.TXT Figure N will be labeled HEAydddC.PSN and sent as the N+1st e-mail message of a set. We assume that you can strip off the e-mail headers and either display or print copies of the figures on a machine in your area. People who have indicated that they cannot handle these files by e-mail are not included in the e-mail distribution of figures.
