Over the weekend, we had two more query failures. Both were for channelized engineering data; all previous failures had been for radio science ODS data. One of the ch_eng failures used an archaic PVL file format; the program which generates this file has since been fixed. The second PVL file was normal. The second query actually failed two times. After the second of these two failures, we called Data Control. They made some changes, and the query was submitted successfully on the third try. Our CD writer continues to be non-functional. We have been unable to create archival volumes for two weeks. After ingress, the noise baseline drifts upward. These would be consistent with atmospheric effects at very low elevation angles. But this was the second of five occultations at DSS 45. Both carrier and noise levels were very 'choppy' in data collected from occultation 7436i (DSS 15, start time 15:25:00). Amplitude of the level changes was about +/-1 dB. The effect was similar to 'choppy' levels seen in data from occultation 7413i, also captured at DSS 15.
