PDS_VERSION = PDS3 RECORD_TYPE = STREAM OBJECT = TEXT PUBLICATION_DATE = 1997-10-22 NOTE = "MGS RST Instrument Health Report HEA7295A.TXT" END_OBJECT = TEXT END Miscellaneous ============= This report is being submitted by Stavros Toumpis and Joe Twicken. Dick Simpson is out of the office today. The NERT query for engineering data failed yesterday after less than 1 MByte of engineering data was transfered. The query will not be initiated again. One of two queries for open-loop data also failed yesterday before most of the expected data was received. Engineering Data ================ Engineering Data Statistical Summary from CSV2STAT: First SCET: 1997-10-21T00:00:03.207 Last SCET: 1997-10-21T00:59:07.207 CHANNL CHANNEL TITLE DN-LO DN-HI EU-LO EU-HI EU-AVG/STDEV RECDS ------ ------------- ----- ----- --------- --------- ---------/-------- ----- L-0061 TWTA1_HV 1 1 873 L-0070 TWTA2_FILMNT 1 1 873 L-0091 KaBLE_ENABLE 0 0 873 Open Loop Data ============== Data Collection --------------- We transfered two segments of open-loop data from the NERT cache yesterday. The second query failed before the query was completed. A summary of the two data segments follows: YYYY/DDD DSS QUERY SAMP BW DSP BIT TRK REC RECS RECS MAX START STOP RATE MODE RESN MODE LEN MSSG SNR -------- --- -------- -------- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----- ---- ----- 1997/288 45 22:45:00 23:25:00 5000 2500 2 12 1-W 1666 12001 0 36. 1997/288 45 23:45:00 23:53:56 5000 2500 2 12 2-W 1666 2684 0 - Anomalies --------- According to Trish Priest, 2-way data should have been available from 1997/288-23:45:00 to 1997/289-00:29:00. The second query failed after only 9 minutes of this 2-way data were received. Analyses -------- There were no missing records in any of the data which was received. We fully processed the 40-minute segment of 1-way data. The carrier was lost for approximately 3.5 minutes near the beginning of the recording. There was also a 1 dB carrier power dropout near 23:12:00. The data were steered using the spk_i_971014_OD021_031_V1 SP-kernel file. That is the latest SP-kernel file we have which includes the periods of the open-loop recordings. The trajectory described in that file must not be well matched to the actual trajectory of the spacecraft because a frequency ramp with a rate of approximately 200 mHz/hour is evident in the frequency residuals. We have estimated the USO frequency and Allan deviation, but hesitate to put much weight in them given the mismatch in the trajectory. The carrier was transmitted with the MGS HGA with telemetry on. The SNR was approximately 36 dB/Hz.
