PDS_VERSION = PDS3 RECORD_TYPE = STREAM OBJECT = TEXT PUBLICATION_DATE = 1997-10-28 NOTE = "MGS RST Instrument Health Report HEA7301A.TXT" END_OBJECT = TEXT END Miscellaneous ============= We were unable to maintain any connection with OSCAR2 at JPL yesterday for transferring ATDFs. Attempts to ftp 6 files were extremely slow and usually timed out, leaving us with nothing. Late in the day Trish Priest transferred the files to RODAN/BIOLLANTE. At that point we were able to maintain contact with both OSCAR2 and BIOLLANTE and managed to keep an ftp connection up with both machines; the ftp from OSCAR2 was running about 2.5 kB/s while the ftp from BIOLLANTE was about 30% faster. We transferred the remaining 4 files from OSCAR2 at the rates and end times in the table below. Note that the rates after about 06h UTC were quite reasonable. Experience is demonstrating that Internet ftp transfers of large files from JPL, except during the middle of the night, is impractical. The first covered P26 on LGT1, the second was P29 on LGT1. There were no missing records in either. Data from P27, P28, and an ad hoc HGA interval will be queried later today. Analysis -------- Data from P26 on 97/296 have been analyzed by Joe Twicken. One objective of this work is to determine the in-flight radiation pattern of LGT1; we will report in more detail on that later. Joe's preliminary estimate of the half- power half width of LGT1 is 48 deg. To process these data Joe used SPK file spk_i_971021_OD026_036_V1 to steer the open loop data. A sawtooth frequency residual remains, however (Figure HEA7301A.PS1). Trish Priest believes this is the result of a rotation damping process on the spacecraft during periapsis passes. Each plot is a PostScript file, created and printable on our SOPC. For report text file HEAydddC.TXT Figure N will be labeled HEAydddC.PSN and sent as the N+1st e-mail message of a set. We assume that you can strip off the e-mail headers and either display or print copies of the figures on a machine in your area. People who have indicated that they cannot handle these files by e-mail are not included in the e-mail distribution of figures.
