PDS_VERSION = PDS3 RECORD_TYPE = STREAM OBJECT = TEXT PUBLICATION_DATE = 1997-11-26 NOTE = "MGS RST Instrument Health Report HEA7330A.TXT" END_OBJECT = TEXT END Miscellaneous ============= A query failure caused us to miss ALL spacecraft engineering data for yesterday (97/329); DSN Monitor data were collected as usual. Although the failure occurred immediately after the query was submitted, it was not noticed until this morning when it was too late to submit again. There has not been time to submit an ISA. These types of failures are infrequent; the last time we had one of this type ("too many open files"), the ISA yielded a non-responsive answer. Rain leaking into our building overnight shorted a power strip in the basement, which brought down a couple repeaters and (by this morning) about half of the workstation connectivity in the building. Team Leader Tyler located the smoking power strip, but the effort required about 4 hours. As a result, we have not carried out the usual transfer of ancillary files from the CDB. Those will be captured later. The SOPC seems to have lost some connectivity with local workstations supporting MGS. Only long address forms (e.g., magellan.stanford.edu) are being resolved. SA Michael Scharf is looking into the problem. Connections between the SOPC and magellan have been restored, but some of the other links (to Joe Twicken's neptune) are still not entirely healthy. OSCAR2 could be reached yesterday, but we were unable to transfer TDFs. This morning we were able to obtain 7 new TDFs with typical transfer times being 3-6 minutes. This is FAR better than the average 6.5 hrs that was required a few weeks ago. Though some of the improvement may be from light loading just before a long holiday weekend, it appears that Scott Fullner's efforts at JPL may have paid off.
