Distribution of the e-mail message is presently limited to data@magellan, joe@neptune, and rsimpson@magellan; if others would like to receive it, more names can be added to the distribution list. Everyone who gets the Daily Health Report will have the information eventually; the e-mail just gives it to you sooner. The cumulative log can be accessed as OCCLOGA1.TAB in /users/z00/LOG on magellan (from nova, the file is /export/home/g3a/rsimpson/MGS/occ.log). It has line lengths of 159 characters, so is not easily displayed on dumb terminals. Feel free to copy the log file, but please avoid opening it in place (as with editors) since it is not well-protected against unauthorized modification. This log file replaces one announced informally a couple weeks ago; the new format has not been declared "final," but it is probably close. Comments are welcome. Overall, the carrier-to-noise ratio is about -6 dB compared with other stations -- a differential that has existed since occultations began on 98/024. Data from both occultations on 98/047 suffered from variations in carrier level of +/-0.3 to +/-0.5 dB prior to the occultation. The variations were on time scales comparable to the recording interval (10 minutes). Both occultations were recorded at DSS 15. Previous anomalies of this type have occurred at other antennas. Data from DSS 65 on 98/048 continue to have carrier-to-noise levels 6 dB below other stations.
