He suggested routing signals through "channel 3" rather than through the usual "channel 1". The DSS 65 carrier-to-noise level on both ingress and egress appears to be 2-3 dB higher than in previous DSS 65 occultations (and now comparable to DSS 54 levels). But it is still 3-5 dB lower than what we are seeing at SPC 10 and SPC 40. Carrier position during occultations captured above is much closer to the passband center than has been the case for the past several days. There is also much less drift during egress. Joe Twicken carried out our "steering" operation (digitial mixing) on data from occultation #104. He found a 6 Hz frequency residual with an SPK file that started at 98/089-01:25:00 (less than one orbit before the occultation, and presumably a reconstruction). Typical residuals are usually well under 1 Hz with reconstructed orbits. "Sawtooth" frequency signatures have been identified in data starting at 1998/087-13:20:25 (DSS 65) and 1998/089-11:59:04 (DSS 65). These are cases in which synchronization appears to have been lost between the POCA and the data sampling. These were the third and fourth such occurrences in a string of 13 occultations.
