Simpson Stanford University ============================================================================== INTRODUCTION ============================================================================== MORS_0201 Because of a one second timing error, solar array CK files for thru 97/212 through 97/337 were regenerated. The new MOI files MORS_0231 (97/256 through 97/337) are on MORS_0234. MORS_0201 CALINFO.TXT was omitted from the CALIB directory on all volumes. thru MORS_0303 MORS_0203 The MCH directory mistakenly contains CSV7252A.MCH and its label. Although these are permitted under the design in MGSRSSIS.TXT, CSV files from engineering data are not included in this volume, nor are CSV files planned for other volumes. MORS_0203 No spacecraft or DSN Monitor data collected on 97/253 (NERT Cache MORS_0204 unavailable). MORS_0204 HEA/HEA7255A.PS1 and HEA7255A.PS2 do not have PDS labels. MORS_0206 1997-09-16 (97/259) Engineering data not available after ~1600. HEA/HEA7260A.PS1 does not have a PDS label. MORS_0207 1997-09-18 (97/261) Engineering data not available after about 0400; DSN Monitor data not available after about 1800. MORS_0208 HEA/HEA7266A.PS1 does not have a PDS label. MORS_0209 1997-09-26 (97/269) Engineering and DSN Monitor data not available for 97/269. HEA/HEA7269A.PS1 and HEA/HEA7272A.PS1 do not have PDS labels. MORS_0211 1997-10-02 (97/275) Engineering data terminated at about 18h by STOP command from Query Control. VOLUME_NAME should show coverage including 1997-10-02. MORS_0212 1997-10-03 (97/276) through 1997-10-10 (97/283) spacecraft MORS_0213 engineering data (ECH) were only partially acquired because of NERT Cache, NASCOM line, and/or SOPC hardware problems. Some DSN Monitor data were also truncated for the same reason. MORS_0213 HEA/HEA7283A.PS1 does not have a PDS label. MORS_0217 1997-10-20 (97/293) engineering and monitor data were lost through an operations error at Stanford. 1997-10-23 (97/296) through most of 1997-10-26 (97/299) engineering and monitor data were lost because the NASCOM line went down. MORS_0218 HEA/HEA7301A.PS1 and HEA/HEA8302A.PS1 do not have PDS labels. MORS_0219 HEA/HEA7303A.PS1 and HEA/HEA8304A.PS1 do not have PDS labels. MORS_0221 File 7302310L.SFO in the SFO directory is a bogus file. The same data are in 7302310B.SFO on MORS_0219. Keyword WSE_FILTER added to queries for engineering data starting 97/310; removes "bad records" which caused apparently toggling of data in channels L-0061 and L-0091. HEA/HEA7311A.PS1 does not have a PDS label. MORS_0224 Beginning on 97/316, queries for spacecraft engineering, DSN monitor, and open-loop data were made with the JPL-provided utility stot. Tom Boreham recommended this; he said stot handles time-out and similar conditions better than uTotFile. MORS_0225 The CALIB directory was omitted. Files from CALIB on any other recent volume (e.g., MORS-0224) could be substituted. MORS_0226 AAREADME.TXT: Added list of acronyms and abbreviations. Removed references to RSC11_11.TXT. INDEX/INDEX.LBL: DATA_SET_ID moved from object to label section. INDEX/CUMINDEX.LBL: DATA_SET_ID same as for INDEX.LBL CATALOG: Editorial improvements to DATASET.CAT, INST.CAT, INSTHOST.CAT, MISSION.CAT, and REF.CAT. DOCUMENT/DOCINFO.TXT: Removed section on RSC11_11.TXT. Editorial corrections. DOCUMENT/MGSRSSIS.TXT: Editorial changes; now version 1.0.2. MORS_0226 INDEX/CUMINDEX.TAB: File erroneously contains listings from thru MORS_0130 and MORS_0131. MORS_0277 MORS_0228 No spacecraft engineering data 1997-11-25 (97/329)(query failed) MORS_0229 MPF data type added; SIS update pending. MORS_0234 Because of a one second timing error, solar array CK files for 97/212 through 97/337 were regenerated. The new MOI files (97/256 through 97/337) are on MORS_0234. MORS_0234 Error in INDEX/INDEX.TAB entry for 7343344A.ODF propagated to thru CUMINDEX.TAB for 3 volumes. Corrected on MORS_0237. MORS_0236 MORS_0237 Incomplete channelized spacecraft engineering data (97/352); query terminated by STOP command from query control. MORS_0239 Incomplete channelized spacecraft engineering data (97/360); query terminated by STOP command from query control. MORS_0248 File name 8018018A.ODF is a duplicate. A file with the same name is on MORS_0247, and this file under the name 8018018B.ODF is also on MORS_0247. MORS_0250 80241915.ODR contains useless data. Buffer problems caused loss of 202 records; remaining data do not have accurate time tags. First radio occultation during aerobraking. Because telemetry was turned off during the occultation (and spacecraft engineering data was not saved on the tape recorder), there is no attitude reconstruction (TCK data) during the occultation. This was the case through the entire series of occultations (to late April 1998). MORS_0251 Engineering data is split into two files on 98/029. SCET errors caused query failures, so some data had to be skipped. HEA/HEA8029A.PS1 does not have a PDS label. MORS_0262 Engineering data split into two files on 98/063; neither has more than a couple hours. Query failures on read errors. MORS_0263 80670339.ODR has 15 missing records (and about 10000 duplicate records). 8067033J.ODR on MORS_0264 has the missing records filled in following a retransmission. MORS_0264 8068071A.ODR is a complete file, based on retransmitted data. It has many duplicate records (DSP/NBOC buffer errors). Its predecessor 80680710.ODR was removed from the system because it contained less than 3 minutes of data. 8067033J.ODR has many duplicate records. 80692353.ODR has 7 missing records after the occultation. 8069069A.ECH contains only about 13 hours of data; the query failed on a read error and there wasn't time to try again. 8069075B.SPK is a duplicate of 8069075A.SPK and should not have appeared in this volume. MORS_0269 Health report HEA8084A.TXT was not distributed on 98/084 as planned. A revised report (HEA8084B.TXT) was distributed on 98/089 and is included in MORS_0271. Supplementary health report HEA8083B.TXT was not distributed on 98/083 as planned. It was distributed on 98/089 and is included in MORS_0271. MORS_0270 With end of Aerobraking Phase 1, the MGS NAV Team switched to a much less intensive schedule. SPK files were released only on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. And each SPK file included only one reconstructed orbit. Since reconstructed orbits are required for proper reduction of occultation data, quality of the atmospheric profiles from this point through the end of April 1998 was lower. Reconstructions by the Smith group at GSFC were available for some orbits, but often delayed compared with the NAV Team releases. MORS_0271 80860223.ODR suffered errors during local processing. The query was resubmitted, and the new file became 8086022D.ODR. The original file (80860223.ODR) was removed from the collection. Beginning 98/087, MGS NAV delivered SPK files only on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Each file was based on a single orbit reconstruction. Hence, during the week, only 1 orbit in 4 was reconstructed; on weekends, only 1 orbit in 6 was reconstructed. The quality of the orbits between varied. Some open loop data from the weekend 98/087-98/089 was judged to be of a quality that wouldn't allow extraction of atmospheric profiles when processed with the Project-provided SPK file. The situation was expected to continue at least through the summer. MORS_0273 First volume with data type ECT (Engineering Channel Table). HEA/HEA8096A.PS1 does not have a PDS label. MORS_0274 HEA/HEA8098A.PS1 does not have a PDS label. MORS_0275 First volume with data type GDN (GEODYN Quick-Look SPK files). Revised MGSRSSIS.TXT in DOCUMENT directory includes ECT and GDN data types; minor editorial updates. MORS_0280 Updated CATALOG/DATASET.CAT file. MORS_0284 File names 8100103A.GDN, 8103107A.GDN, 8107110A.GDN, and 8114117A.GDN were incorrectly used a second time on this CD. The previous instances appeared on MORS_0281. The source files were different in all cases. MORS_0287 Queries submitted soon after change of UTC day were not picking up all spacecraft engineering data for the previous 24 hours, apparently because some of the data were played back from tape on a delayed basis. Queries were submitted for 98/146 through 98/175 a second time; those ECH and ECT files appear on this CD with file names xxxxxxxB.ECH and xxxxxxxB.ECT, respectively. The difference was typically a factor of 2-3 increase in the volume of ECH data. Data type GDF was added to the archive. GDF_SPK.TXT was added to the DOCUMENT directory; DOCINFO.TXT and MGSRSSIS.TXT were updated to reflect the changes. MORS_0288 SFDU label on DOCUMENT/TRK_2_23.TXT removed; label changed to indicate file has FIXED_LENGTH records of 80 bytes. Directory ECS contains three new summary tables of spacecraft channelized engineering data. File 7125244A.ECS is from MGS Cruise rather than Orbit Insertion. MORS_0290 File 8001194E.WEA in the WEA directory should be ignored. Use 80012014.WEA instead. MORS_0201 Files in the HEA directory have keyword PDS_VERSION instead of thru PDS_VERSION_ID. Files in the SAK directory have values MORS_0294 "MARS_GLOBAL_SURVEYOR" instead of "MARS GLOBAL SURVEYOR" for keywords MISSION_NAME and INSTRUMENT_HOST_NAME. MORS_0295 Because of a software error, ECT files were not created for days and 244-252, inclusive. MORS_0296 MORS_0301 There are spurious ECH and MCH directories inside directory TDF. MORS_0311 ODR/83081342.ODR may be data suffering from the DSP 'sawtooth' anomaly. But the carrier was not in the passband, so there is no way to confirm the problem.
