An FRO moved it into the passband shortly after, but the data will likely not be useful for science. Amplitude oscillations of +/-0.2 dB and period about 100 sec begin almost immediately after egress on data beginning at 1998/356-21:30:00. There is no occultation in the data beginning at 1998/357-00:16:00. Apparently DSP recording stopped before ingress occurred. See below for an explanation of similar events around 1998/356-00:31:00. Amplitude leading up to ingress in data beginning at 1998/357-04:22:42 was decreasing at about 0.25 dB/minute for 3 minutes. There are two modulations on amplitude in egress data beginning at 1998/357-05:24:00. There is a +/-0.1 dB oscillation with period 3 minutes and a second oscillation with about half that amplitude and a 0.1 minute period. All of the data from the occultation starting at 1998/357-13:16:00 and virtually all of the data from the occultation at 1998/357-12:05:00 appear to have been lost in the GDS. A spectrum from the 9 records beginning at 12:05 shows no carrier; these data have been removed from our system in hopes that the full run may eventually be recovered. General Notes ------------- Trish Priest passed along some expanations of recent anomalies and a forecast of things to come: For the past reset week (since orbit 875), the MOLA ISH, which occurs during the occultation, has closely followed ingress. During the 356-00:31:00 ingress, the MOLA ISH happend before the ingress due to aerobraking timing uncertainties. The MOLA ISH begins exactly at the time stated in the SOE, Periapsis + 02:15:02. The ingress times may be different due to changes from the expected dynamic pressure. If the timing is correct, there should be a couple of minutes between ingress and the beginning of the MOLA ISH. This will not be a problem for the next reset period because they are going to an Earth-pointed MOLA ISH that occurs right after periapsis. Beginning next reset week (roughly orbits 917-968) we have telemetry off and 12 minutes of baseline for ingress. Unfortunately (for us), because we are a bit ahead of schedule in aerobraking, the egress will already be within the "Drag Pass" period. Therefore, we will only be getting ingress measurements. Egress has been getting close to the "Drag Pass" period, which is the reason that you have been getting long baselines for the past several days.
