Fluctuations reach +/-0.5 dB in some cases. Some of this results from the apparent amplitude modulation caused by uplink ramping and reception of the drifting signal with a receiver filter that exceeds ripple specifications. There was no DSN coverage for occultations with the following start times: 1999/052-09:21:00 1999/052-10:12:00 1999/052-11:19:00 1999/052-23:55:00 Weak spectral noise at 500-800 Hz below the carrier was present in several egress occultations (e.g., 1999/052-00:23:00), suggestive of surface reflections from HGA sidelobe radiation. These are the first hints of surface echoes using HEF antennas on the ground. Ingress occultations (telementry ON) continue to have SNR typically 16 dB below SNR for the corresponding egress occultation (telemetry OFF). An unknown event about 2 minutes after ingress occultation 1999/053-16:45:00 caused transients in the data. But this may be well- enough separated from the occultation that no harm is done to the science analysis.
