Sequence 57710D:
Sequence 57810A:
Ah! I guess those downlink guys were right after all ... we should have turned by about 10-15 degrees
Operational Constraints (for Sol 77 Sequence):
1) Disable the differential. Turn counterclockwise by 20 degrees. Position APXS (~0.3 meters)
2) Retract APXS. Disable the differential. Drive forward 0.8 meters. Turn counterclockwise by 20 degrees. Enable the differential. Set Risk level to 2. Partially deploy APXS. Position APXS (~1.0 meters).
Operational Constraints (General):

SUBSYSTEM STATUS (AS OF EOD SOL 77):
NAVIGATION PERFORMANCE:
Re-adjust the vehicle position for docking APXS to Chimp, and perform
APXS on Chimp.
The vehicle attempted to deploy the APXS on Chimp without success due
to an articulation hazard while positioning the vehicle. The EOD image
showed that the left center wheel was up in the air, and not touching the
rock underneath it. The Y accel showed no anomalous readings, but not
with the Z.
CONSTRAINTS:
THERMAL PERFORMANCE:
TELECOM PERFORMANCE
The end-of-sol communication system performance for the downlink was as follows:
SOL 78 DOWNLINK TELECOM STATISTICS
In planning the sequence for Sol 79 and beyond, the revised modem heating strategy used should be followed:
For rover wakeups on solar power, modem heating is only needed if communications is needed in the morning. In this situation set modem heating to 0 andreheat to 300 seconds. Also, if there are afternoon only downlink sessions, then no modem heating is required after wakeup on solar. The rover modem should be commanded in the next-day runout sequence to perform a 300 second modem reheat at wakeup. Later in the day, modem reheating should be triggered by an excessive number of frame retries on the rover-to-lander link, and the reheating should continue for five minutes or until the rover modem reaches +30 C. However, if the LMRE radio is off, then the reheat to get to +30C is not needed. This requires some coordination of timing between the LMRE ON times and the rover transmissions. The sequence planners should consider the uncertainty in event completion times introduced by any required modem reheating- cycles.
