PRESS RELEASE
The last rover command sequence for the second day on Mars will drive Sojourner down the rear ramp and onto the Martian surface for the first time. The rover will stop just off the end of the ramp and deploy the APX instrument onto the the Martian surface for an overnight analysis of soil composition. Sojourner will then shutdown overnight with periodic wakeups throughout the night for heathchecks. With the sunrise of SOL 3 wakeup the rover will wakeup and await a new command sequence to drive out into the martian terrian.
