PRESS RELEASE
During SOL 44, the rover is scheduled to traverse toward the rock Shark, the next APXS site. The rover will initially execute a number of turns and moves, then take a pair of forward images before the final waypoint command moves it into the vicinity of Shark. If properly positioned, Sojourner will then take a stereo image of Shark, then turn in place to orient the APXS instrument in preparation for data collection. A short soil mechanics experiment will then be carried out. Two Material Adherence (MAE) experiments will also be conducted. Final placement of the APXS will await new commands from the rover team on SOL 45.
