Input data are from the NEAR Laser Rangefinder (NLR) on the NEAR-Shoemaker (NEAR) spacecraft. Coordinate system is given by the project-supplied orientation SPICE files, with longitudes measured positive east. When evaluated, the model gives absolute radius from Eros center of mass in meters. The model is a numerical transform of planetary radius values from the NLR 0.125-degree gridded data set DATA_SET_ID = 'NEAR-A-NLR-6-EROS-MAPS-MODELS-V1.0' PRODUCT_ID = 'NLR125AR.IMG' into spherical harmonics using Simpson's Rule quadrature. The gridded data set included selected NLR observations from day 2000-065 to 2001-043. A total of approximately 15,868,304 observations are represented. Uncertainties were estimated by assuming a worst-case uncertainty of 10 meters for each pixel in the gridded data set, derived from crossover residual analysis. This uncertainty is divided by the square root of the number of pixels with actual data, times a geometrical factor to account for the area of each pixel. We further assume that each pixel in the gridded data set is an independent estimate of topography. The cross-covariances are identically zero by the orthogonality of the spherical harmonic decomposition. This product is a set of two ASCII tables: a header table and a coefficients table. Definitions of the tables follow. This shape model was produced under the direction of D.E. Smith of NASA-Goddard Space Flight Center."
