2007 MARS PHOENIX ROBOTIC ARM REDUCED DATA RECORDS Introduction ------------ The Phoenix Robotic Arm Derived Data consists of Robotic Arm (RA) Scoop Tip position data and components of force exerted by the RA. Data are included for both the spacecraft RA and the Payload Interoperability Testbed RA. The RDRs are derived from raw RA telemetry data that are not archived in PDS due to ITAR restrictions. File Formats ------------ The RA RDR archive consists of data from the Phoenix Lander RA on Mars and from the Payload Interoperability Testbed RA at the University of Arizona. Both categories of data consist of comma-separated-value (CSV) text files with position, time, and force data from the RA telemetry. The test data include JPEG image files that show RA operation and that correspond to the CSV data files. Spacecraft data files are named for the sol (Mars day) on which they were acquired, eg. "SOL006.CSV". The first day of Phoenix landed operations was sol 1. If there were several observations on the same sol, the data files are named SOLnnnA.CSV, SOLnnnB.CSV, etc. Test data files are named for the characteristic of the test being conducted, e.g. "PIT_TEST_SCRAPING.CSV". Each data file is described by a PDS label in a separate file with the same name, extension ".XML", in the same directory as the data file. The labels contain identification and observation parameters associated with the data files.
