        <description>
            RadPC (Radiation Tolerant Portable Computer) is a radiation tolerant computing system designed to address the issue
            of space radiation threatening the integrity of computing hardware. It uses a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS)
            Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) to implement a cost-effective, novel computer architecture for space missions.

            The RadPC payload contains two separate experiments. The first is the RadPC FPGA radiation tolerant computer
            experiment. The second is a dosimeter experiment that collects information about the radiation environment that the
            RadPC computer is operating in. Both experiments are designed to operate independently from each other (i.e.,
            separate power and communication links). There is also a thermal management system (TMS) within the payload to
            regulate the internal temperature of the experiments; however, it was never turned on during the 19-D mission due to
            the lander keeping the payload within its operating temperature.
