    <description>T-ReCS (Thermal-Region Camera Spectrograph) is a mid-infrared imager and long-slit spectrograph developed by the University of Florida for use with the Gemini South telescope. It was commissioned for imaging and low-resolution spectroscopy in 2003B, with medium-resolution N-band spectroscopy (Hi-Res mode) added in 2004B. The instrument is designed to minimize thermal background, maximize throughput, and ensure high image quality, allowing for nearly diffraction-limited 10 µm imaging in most conditions when paired with Gemini's fast tip/tilt compensating secondary mirror. James Radomski is the Instrument Scientist for T-ReCS. </description>
