 spacecraft and was the first spacecraft to fly by, orbit, and land on a small body.

 Spectrograph (NIS), X-Ray Spectrometer (XRS), Gamma-Ray Spectrometer (GRS), NEAR Laser 
 Rangefinder (NLR), Magnetometer (MAG), plus the Radio Science Subsystem (RSS).
