The USGS and JPL subnodes jointly house the vast collection of NASA's planetary digital images acquired since the early 1970's from the Mariner, Viking, and Voyager spacecrafts, and they will be acquiring similar collections for current and upcoming missions. The top-level objective of the PDS Imaging Node is to place directly into the hands of the PDS Science Nodes and other NASA-funded institutions the resources, tools and skills necessary to fully utilize the vast collection of digital planetary imaging data.
