Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) Diviner
Planetary Data System (PDS) Archive Bundle

Overview
========

This bundle contains the following collections.

  data_calibrated1: Calibrated Diviner data products for years 2009 to 2016
  data_calibrated2: Calibrated Diviner data products for years 2017 and beyond
  calibration: Calibration documents and data files
  document_catalog: PDS3 catalog files with PDS4 labels
  document: Description of the Diviner data products 

Diviner data was originally archived in PDS using the PDS3 standard and were
referred to as RDRs. These data are being converted to the PDS4 standard in
bundle urn-nasa-pds-lro_diviner_calibrated. Eventually other Diviner derived
products that are now in PDS3 archives will be moved to PDS4 collections in
other Diviner bundles.

Data Products and PDS Labels
============================

Every Diviner data product is accompanied by a PDS label in a file with 
the same name as the data file, but with the extension ".xml", as PDS 
labels are written in XML (Extended Markup Language). The labels may 
be viewed in a text editor or web browser, preferably one that applies 
special formatting to XML files to make them more readable. The labels 
may also be read by software that can interpret XML. 

Diviner calibrated data are in text tables with aligned columns. They may be
read using the PDS4 Viewer, or any text editor, or with a spreadsheet program
such as Google Sheets. The calibrated data files are large (typically 300 MB per
10 minutes of data). The total archive size would be over 200 TB. As such, the
calibrated data files are currently stored as compressed ZIP files. However, the
PDS4 labels point to the original uncompressed files with a .tab file extension.

The original PDS3 labels are also included in this bundle. These labels have the
same name as the data file, but with the extension of ".lbl". They have a
keyword=value format and can be viewed in any text editor.

Documentation
=============
       
The Diviner Reduced Data Record (RDR) Software Interface Specification (SIS) in
the document collection describes the contents, format, and structure of all
Diviner calibrated and derived data products. As most of these products were
archived under PDS3, the document contains references to both PDS3 and PDS4.

The ERRATA.TXT file in the root directory of this dataset is a PDS3 file and is
not part of the PDS4 bundle. This file is no longer being updated. Future
updates will appear in the release_notes product located in the document
collection of this bundle.
