Introduction

This document contains information pertaining to the Pioneer Venus Orbiter (PVO) Ion Mass      
Spectrometer Data Bundle. This bundle includes Pioneer Venus Orbiter (PVO) Ion Mass            
Spectrometer High-Resolution and Pioneer Venus Orbiter (PVO) Ion Mass Spectrometer             
Low-Resolution data collections.                                                               
                                                                                               
This bundle is organized into 3 collections, including: Pioneer Venus Orbiter (PVO) Ion Mass   
Spectrometer High-Res Data Collection (urn:nasa:pds:pvo-oims:data-highres), Pioneer Venus      
Orbiter (PVO) Ion Mass Spectrometer Low-Res Data Collection (urn:nasa:pds:pvo-oims:data-12s),  
and Pioneer Venus Orbiter (PVO) Ion Mass Spectrometer Document Collection                      
(urn:nasa:pds:pvo-oims:document).  PDS4 documentation is all XML. There is an XML label for    
every product in the archive.                                                                  
                                                                                               
                                                                                               
Pioneer Venus Orbiter (PVO) Ion Mass Spectrometer High-Resolution Data Collection              
===============================================================================================
This collection includes PV-OIMS high resolution data. It contains data from the Orbiter Ion   
Mass Spectrometer (OIMS) experiment and orbit attitude data for orbits 1-5055, including data  
for the period periapsis +/- 30 minutes for each orbit. The data is divided into multiple files
which contain 1 orbit.                                                                         
                                                                                               
Pioneer Venus Orbiter (PVO) Ion Mass Spectrometer Low-Resolution Data Collection

This collection includes Pioneer Venus (PVO) Ion Mass Spectrometer (OIMS) low resolution ion   
density data for the period periapsis +/- 30 minutes for orbits 1- 2996                        
(1978-12-05 - 1987-08-18).

These data collections were originally archived under PDS3 in the following volumes:           
PVO-V-OIMS-3-IONDENSITY-HIRES-V1.0 in PV08_0001 to PV08_0003                                   
PVO-V-OIMS-4-IONDENSITY-12S-V1.0 in PV08_0001 to PV08_0003                                     
                                                                                               
Under the PDS3 standard all archives were self contained and could in principle be stored in a 
single file system (disk, CD-ROM, etc.).  PDS4 takes advantage of the network capabilities that
allow archives to be distributed.  As a result, some of the documents and metadata previously  
stored in the PDS3 catalog files are no longer maintained locally, but are  maintained in a    
central repository.  Those files are referenced by unique PDS logical identifiers that are     
included in the document collection inventory.                                                 
                                                                                               
                                                                                               
Errata                                                                                         
======                                                                                         
There is no known errata. An errata file has been included. If more issues are discovered, they
will be noted in this file.                                                                    
                                                                                               
Every effort has been made to insure that the data are of the best quality available. However, 
users are encouraged to verify the correctness of the data prior to submitting any publications
