| DESCRIPTION |
The BepiColombo Monitoring Cameras (MCAMs) are off-the-shelf cameras from Micro-cameras and Space Exploration SA, Neuchâtel, Switzerland. All three cameras are identical models, offering a 1024x1024 pixel CCD, a 10 bit/pixel resolution, and a 10 Mbit/s camera I/O speed. The integrated electronics include a sequencer, converter, an internal buffer for up to 4 images, and an internal clock. The power consumption is less than 1.5 W. The operating range between -120°C and +30°C. The mass of the camera is 110 g. The field-of-view is 70 degree rectangular. All three cameras are mounted on the Mercury Transfer Module (MTM) of BepiColombo. One electronic box, the CAMBOX, is installed on the MPO spacecraft. As a consequence, MCAM operations will end with the release of the BepiColombo stack configuration at the end of 2025.
