NAME The Television System (TVS) for Vega 1
TYPE Imager
DESCRIPTION The Television System (TVS) on Vega 1 and Vega 2 were identical. The TVS consisted of two telescope, one narrow-angle for high-resolution of the comet nucleus, and one large-angle for detecting and tracking the nucleus. The narrow-angle telescope had an average angular resolution of 3 arcseconds, corresponding to a spatial resolution of 150 m at the nominal flyby distance of 10,000 km. The large-angle telescope had an angular resolution of 0.5 arcminutes. Each telescope had two channels, onewith a fixed filter, and another with a rotating filter wheel. The spectral range for the multispectral channels was 0.4 to 1.1 microns; for the integral channels, 0.63 to 0.76 microns.
