| DESCRIPTION |
The DART spacecraft, funded through NASA'sPlanetary Defense Coordination Office, was designed as an impactor, with some technology demonstration elements. It carried no scientific instruments, although the DRACO navigation camera did return an image data set. The spacecraft measure about 1.8m x 1.9m x 2.6 and was fitted with two Roll Out Solar Arrays (ROSA) measuring 8.5m x 2.4m each. Launch mass of the DART spacecraft was 610kg. The DART spacecraft carried along the Italian Space Agency LICIACube as a ride-along mission, releasing the cubesat 15 days before impact so that it could observer and send images back to Earth independently of DART.
