NAME The New Horizons (NH) Spacecraft
TYPE Spacecraft
DESCRIPTION The main body of the New Horizons spacecraft is roughly triangular, and about 0.76m deep, with the tub containing the radioisotope thermoelectric generator extending from the apex. The 2.1m radio dish is attached to the front, flat side of the triangular box. The spacecraft is roughly 2.5 meters across and its mass was 465 kg including propellant at launch. The spacecraft has both spin-stabilized and three-axis stabilized modes, the latter used for science operations. The seven instruments comprising the science payload are mounted on the exterior of the main body.
