DESCRIPTION The Venera 7 spacecraft comprised a carrier bus holding a descentcraft/lander to study Venus. The carrier bus was designed to be acommunications relay for the lander and to explore interplanetary spaceduring cruise and Venus encounter. Instrumentation consisted of energeticparticle and solar wind detectors. Venera 7 was the first mission to returndata from the surface of another planet.
