NAME Irenee du Pont 2.5m Telescope
DESCRIPTION The Irénée du Pont 2.5-meter Telescope, located at Las Campanas Observatory in Chile, has been operational since 1977 and is managed by the Carnegie Institution for Science. As a Ritchey-Chrétien reflector, it supports a wide range of astronomical research, including stellar spectroscopy and supernova observations. Notably, it serves as the southern hemisphere platform for the APOGEE-2 survey, part of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, enabling detailed studies of the Milky Way's structure and evolution.
