| DESCRIPTION |
The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) was launch along with its companion spacecraft, the Lunar CRater Observation and Sensing Satellite (LCROSS), into a direct insertion trajectory to the Moon. It orbits the Moon in a polar orbit.
