Data Set Abstract Mars Pathfinder bounced down and rolled to a stop on the surface of Mars on July 4, 1997. After a slight delay in deployment due to airbags draped over one of the lander's petals, the Rover rolled down onto the surface of Mars at 5:37am, July 6, 1997 (UTC).
