The BRRISON Gondola is an aluminum frame that holds and protects the science
payload for the mission and the subsystems, and is the link to the balloon
flight train. The gondola was developed using flight heritage from the
Stratospheric Terahertz Observatory (STO). The four subsystems are the
Pointing, Command and Control, Power, and Telecommunications subsystems. The
gondola and subsystems were refurbished and modified to meet the mission
goals and desired future capabilities.

A new frame was designed and built for the BRRISON mission. In addition to
the various structural improvements to ensure the frame would survive the
parachute return, the new frame was designed so that it could be scaled to
accommodate up to a 1.5 m telescope, as well as the 0.8 m telescope used for
the BRRISON mission. All the subsystems faced some slight modifications and
refurbishing for the BRRISON mission.

The gondola survived the return to the ground with minor damage and was
retrieved successfully. It will be used for future balloon missions
including BOPPS.
