The Infrared Telescope Facility (IRTF)
      is a 3.0-meter telescope designed for maximum performance
      in the thermal infrared.  It is located on the 4200-meter
      summit of Mauna Kea on the island of Hawaii.  The IRTF is
      operated and maintained for NASA by the Institute for
      Astronomy at the University of Hawaii.
