DATA_SET_DESCRIPTION Data Set Overview: This data set contains 107 asteroid spectra obtained between the years 1975 and 1982 inclusive, with the infrared fourier transform spectrometer (FTS) of H. P. Larson. These spectra were taken by various observers and at various telescopes and were collected onto a project archive tape by M. A. Feierberg and stored by Dr. Larson until they were released to PDS in 1996. Most of these data have been published and the relevent publications are listed in the index file. Only very limited documentation of these data survive (e. g. the telescope logs have not been preserved) and the information given in the index file are extracted from the header lines of the archive tape and from the published papers. Parameters: The spectrum files include wavelength in microns and unscaled reflectance in arbitrary units. Data: This data set is inhomogeneous, containing spectra of various levels of processing. Most have some information as to their processing state in the header record, which is reproduced in the index file. Those labeled as 'average spectrum are produced by averaging the data on

CONFIDENCE_LEVEL_NOTE Confidence Level Overview: These spectra are included in the PDS asteroids archive because of their potential usefulness, and in spite of their age and relative lack of documentation. The information about each spectrum given in the index file are taken from the header records of the project archive tape and may include errors. Where possible, the header information is supplemented and corrected with information from the published papers. Review: This data set is scheduled for external peer review on June 1-2, 2000. Data Coverage and Quality: The data set includes all asteroid spectra from a single project archive tape written by Michael Feierberg in 1983 and preserved by Hal Larson.
