DATA_SET_DESCRIPTION Data Set Overview : At the ESO La Silla site is a direct imaging facility (DIFA) at the A Nasmyth focus of the NTT, in front of the image derotator which feeds the IRSPEC infrared spectrograph. Two remotely-controlled 45-degree mirrors can be inserted in the light beam to deviate the telescope beam either to a CCD camera (SUSI) or to an infrared array. The IRSPEC at the NTT was upgraded at the beginning of the 1991 season by replacing its linear detector with a 2D SBRC 58x62 pixel InSb array which exhibits good cosmetic quality and high quantum efficiency from 1 to 5 micrometers. In order to optimize the performance of this array, a multiple non-destructive sampling mode was included within the new VME-based acquisition system developed at ESO. Together with measures to reduce the instrumental background, an improvement in sensitivity of about 20 has been achieved in the 1-2.5-micrometer region. The resolving power now ranges from 1500 to 3000 for two pixel sampling with a 4-arcsec slit, and the slit length is 2 arcmin. Processing : The IRSPEC data have two PIs: Rita Schulz and Therese Encrenaz with CoIs: Joachim Steuwe, and Gunther Wiedemann. The IRSPEC data were taken from July 23 through July 31. The data have been 'flux calibrated' but due to the difficult weather situation during the observations the values have to be 'taken with care.' The individual IRSPEC files have an index table (IRSPINDX) located in the INDEX directory.
