Data Set Overview: This data set contains the trajectory data of the Huygens probe in theatmosphere of Titan. The DOCUMENT directory contains the files that provide documentationand supplementary information to assist in understanding and using thedata products. Especially, the EAICD document describes the data set. Seven data products are archived in the DATA directory. Browse files in the BROWSE directory are JPG files providing quick-lookview of trajectory data. Input files that were needed to compute the trajectory can be found inthe EXTRAS directory. Warnings: It should be pointed out that the reconstruction of descent trajectoryof the Huygens probe is not coherent with the altitude profileretrieved from the Huygens radar altimeter. Differentapproaches/methods for descent trajectory reconstruction resulted inaltitude and velocity profiles that show discrepancy, not consistentwith uncertainty range relevant to models and measurements. The reasonfor this discrepancy is at present still under investigation. Resultsof future analysis could imply the need for reconsolidate thetrajectory. Software: The data are stored as ASCII files and do not need any specificsoftware. The DTWG software is nevertheless included with this data setfor completeness. The archive team does not intend to maintain suchsoftware. Review: The Huygens data sets were reviewed in two steps: (1) a review of theExperimenter-to-archive-ICD, in 2004. (2) a review of the data sets, in2006.
