DATA_SET_DESCRIPTION |
Data Set Overview : The command file data set contains a record of all commands sent to the Lunar Prospector spacecraft. The command files document any changes in spacecraft and science instrument operating modes or other settings. The files are ASCII text records of the commands and associated parameters. A complete list of spacecraft commands can be found in Appendix B of the Level 0 Data Product SIS, which is included in the Lunar Prospector Level 0 Data archive. Each file in the command data set contain uplink commands for a given commanding session. Such uplink sessions occurred every few days. Science Objectives : The Lunar Prospector science objectives relevant to this data set are to map the Moon's surface composition and its magnetic field, and to determine the frequency and location of gas release events. A special emphasis of the science objectives is to search for polar water ice deposits [BINDERETAL1998].

CONFIDENCE_LEVEL_NOTE |
Confidence Level Overview : The uplink command files contain a field to indicate the status of sending each command to the spacecraft. The status values are CONFIRM, ABORT, and SKIP. Confirm indicates that the entire command was successfully transmitted. Abort indicates that the transmission of the command began, but not all command bits were sent. Skip means that the command was never sent. Data Coverage and Quality : Uplink commands were sent to the spacecraft on an as-needed basis.
