DATA_SET_DESCRIPTION Data Set Overview :The LOLA GDR data products consists primarily of raster Digital ElevationModels formatted as binary images with detached labels. Ancillary gridded(binned, averaged) datasets consist of sample density, surface albedo, slope, roughness, geoid height, and 1064-nm surface reflectance. The detector noise statistics [BARKERETAL2016, SUNETAL2006] alsoprovide a crude radiometric measurement of surface brightness at 1064 nm.The GDR products in this data set are images in Equidistant Cylindrical mapprojections at resolutions of 4, 16, 64, 128, 256 and 512 pixels per degree,as appropriate. Maps at a resolution of 1024 pixels per degree were createdas a preliminary effort. These maps will be updated in the future but are currently very sparse. Albedo maps are additionally provided at a 10 pixel per degree resolution for consistency with LEMELINETAL2015. Additional DEMS that coregister LOLA data with Kaguya's Selene Terrain Camera are given in resolutions of 128, 256 and 512 pixels per degree, also in Equidistant Cylindrical map projection. In addition, Polar Stereographic projected maps with resolutions from 240down to 5 meters per pixel are included for the North and South polar regions of the Moon. Owing to the large size of many of the GDR products, several formats and tiling schemes are employed, as described in the Archive SIS. JPEG2000 compression is also used with geospatial headers as appropriate for the product in question.

CONFIDENCE_LEVEL_NOTE Overview : Data are edited and selected before averaging so as to maintain good quality. Where necessary, crossover analysis is done prior to averaging so as to minimize discrepancies between individual tracks. Data Coverage and Quality : Each nominal monthly orbit provides roughly two tracks per degree of longitude at the equator. After each month's data are accumulated, crossover adjustments are made to minimize the difference in elevation between closely registered tracks and to remove along- and across-track orbital errors. The resulting dataset provides better geodetic control than that from individual tracks. The first release (March 15, 2010) does not incorporate these adjustments, and relies on preliminary trajectory solutions. Re-release with better precision and increased density has been occuring periodically. Limitations : Density of observations increases linearly with time. Higher-resolution GDR products will be provided when data density provides coverage in a majority of pixels of each data product.
