| DATA_SET_DESCRIPTION |
Data Set Overview : This data set contains data that is useful for determining the major and minor elemental composition of Martian soils, rocks, and other geological materials that the rover encountered. Processing : The Committee On Data Management and Computation (CODMAC) data level numbering system is used to describe the processing level of the EDR data product. APXS x-ray data products are considered CODMAC Level 2 or Edited Data (equivalent to NASA level 0) products. The APXS x-ray data products were generated by the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry, Mainz, Germany. The x-ray spectra were extracted from the binary EDR files and converted to ASCII. Any spectra that remained in the instrument's memory from previous analyses were removed from the data product. Data : Each APXS X-ray data file is a table. Columns are variable length and are delimited with commas. Each row is terminated with a carriage return and line feed character.

| ABSTRACT_TEXT |
This archive contains Mars Exploration Rover x-ray data products fromthe APXS instrument and ancillary files. Each product has a detachedPDS label that describes the file structure and instrument parametersused for that product. The APXS x-ray products archived on this volume were generated by the APXS Science Team, Max Planck Institute, for the Mars Exploration Rover Project. Supporting documentation and label files conform to the Planetary Data System (PDS) Standards, Version 3.6, Jet PropulsionLaboratory (JPL) document number D-7669. This archive is designed tobe accessed as an online resource.
