Overview: : ASPERA-3/IMA generally makes measurements in the solar wind just before entering the Martian Bow Shock (BS) and just after exiting it. The moments have been computed by integrating measurements in the solar wind taken either during BS entry or BS exit. Parameters: : All IMA solar wind parameter data products have the same format. each row (data file record) in the SWM data products has eight (8) COLUMN objects (parameters): 1. Time - Date/Time in UTC of the data sample 2. Density - Solar wind density in protons per cubic centimeter 3. Speed - Solar wind speed in kilometers per second 4. Temperature - Solar wind temperature in Kelvin 5. Data Quality Value - A quality indicator flag for the data on that row. See CONFIDENCE_LEVEL_NOTE under 'Data Coverage/Quality' for valid values and descriptions. Data Products: : The only Standard Data Product for the IMA SWM PSA Level 4 is: 1. ASP3_IMA_SWM - solar wind parameters References: : Refer to the ASPERA-3 Experiment to Archive Interface Control Document (EAICD) found in the DOCUMENT directory (MEX_ASPERA3_PSA_ICD_V02_02) for more information and detail concerning data set formulation and contents.

Review: : These data have been reviewed by the instrument team and are of the highest quality that can be generated at this time. Science results based on these data have been published in several journals. After submission to the PDS, these data successfully completed the peer review process. Data Coverage/Quality: : There is a data quality indicator in the data files (flag). For general use, we advise to only include moments with flag : 0. Valid values are: 0 - Good Data: No identified issues 1 - Bad Fit: Likely EUV contamination 2 - Too low temperature: The instrument cannot reliably resolve the maxwellian 3 - IMA was running in a badly suited Post-acceleration (PAC) level. Limitations: : There are no known limitations at this time.
