Data Set Overview

    The data from the ROSETTA PLASMA CONSORTIUM (RPC) Ion Composition
Analyser (ICA) was submitted by Hans Nilsson for the RPCICA team.

    The data set contains data of mass resolved positively charged ions
in the energy range a few eV to 40 keV. The raw data is separated into
mass channels or mass channel ranges, not actual ion mass. For most
circumstances, significant counts are seen only for certain
directions, mass channels and energy levels. The data is thus sparse
with many zeros. The unit is COUNTS.

    This dataset contains RAW DATA from the RPCICA instrument on
mission ROSETTA during the flyby of asteroid Lutetia. RPC-ICA
suffered an overheating event shortly after turn on, and did not
obtain any measurements of value.
Data set version 3 replaces a previously delivered data set.
Important changes are the the expansion of data to a uniform resolution,
Inclusion of the mode variable and new quality flags in the data and
moving information about software version, BAD_HV_MASK and SHADOW_MASK
to the label.

An automatic screening removing most corrupt data has been used.
Some faulty data may remain, this is usually obvious from the look of
the data. Cross-talk affects some directional and mass resolution.
A quality flag also indicates data with potential problems concerning
noise levels and stability of the energy scale.
    Due to an overheating event turning the instrument off shortly after
turn-on, RPCICA did not obtain any useful measurements.
